Frequently asked questions

What is a SIP calculator?

A SIP calculator estimates the maturity value of a Systematic Investment Plan based on your monthly investment, expected return rate, and time period.

What’s the difference between the Simple and Advanced SIP calculator?

The Simple calculator assumes a constant annual return you enter yourself. The Advanced calculator uses a specific fund’s real historical NAV data to show what your SIP would actually have earned, including real market ups and downs.

Is SIP better than a lumpsum investment?

Neither is universally better. A SIP spreads your purchases across time, so you buy more units when prices fall and fewer when they rise, which reduces the risk of investing everything at a market peak. A lumpsum puts the full amount to work immediately, which tends to help when markets rise steadily afterwards. SIPs also suit people investing out of monthly income rather than a large existing corpus.
